This is Alpino, our favorite greasy spoon diner in London located in Chapel Market, Angel Islington. Alpino has been continuously operating since 1959. It's also one of the last remaining British "caffs", or cafes. The caff is to British what roadside diners are to Americans. Most of the British caffs were opened by Italian immigrants to England, hence the Italian names. Alpino is famous for its authentic food and interior. The building was recently used for filming Lily Allen's music video, "Smile." It also appears in the upcoming film, "Brick Lane."
